Tools & Equipment Insurance
Wrap shops run on expensive equipment — vinyl plotters/cutters, large-format printers, laminators, heat guns, and install tools. Tools & equipment (inland marine) coverage protects that gear against theft, damage, and loss on-site and in transit.
Tools & Equipment Coverage for Wrap Installers
A modern wrap and graphics shop has a serious equipment investment: a large-format printer and laminator can run tens of thousands of dollars, plus vinyl plotters/cutters, heat guns, infrared heaters, squeegees, knifeless tape, and a full install kit. Tools & equipment insurance — a form of inland marine coverage — protects all of it against theft, fire, accidental damage, and loss.
Unlike commercial property (which covers gear at a fixed location), inland marine follows your equipment — including mobile install kits taken to a customer site or fleet yard, and equipment in transit between jobs. For installers who do on-location fleet wraps, that off-premises coverage is essential.
What's Covered and What's Not
Covered: theft from your shop or vehicle, accidental damage (a dropped printer head, a heat gun that starts a fire), and transit losses. Not covered: normal wear and tear, and mechanical/electrical breakdown — which is a separate equipment breakdown coverage worth considering for your printer and laminator. We schedule your high-value equipment individually and provide a blanket limit for smaller tools, settled on a replacement-cost basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Commercial property covers equipment at your scheduled location, but if you take install kits or equipment off-site to fleet jobs, you need inland marine (tools & equipment) coverage that follows the gear wherever it goes. Many shops carry both.
Tools & equipment covers theft and accidental physical damage, not mechanical or electrical breakdown. For your printer and laminator, we recommend adding equipment breakdown coverage, which responds to internal failures that an inland marine policy excludes.
